3 Positive Things
1) A fellow blogger Dolly was over from Ireland this week and Happy Frog and I went to meet her in London. I'd like to say it isn't every day that I walk through an elegant pub holding a cuddly frog in the hope that someone will recognise it, but it is becoming an increasingly popular pass time of mine recently. It was a superb, welcoming and convivial evening where I got to meet lots of her friends as well as the lady herself. Just as when I met Diane for the first time we clicked, the same can most certainly be said for Dolly. I can't wait to see her again. She has promised that she will be putting some of the photos that were taken up on her blog so do keep a look out.
2) At the same time that I have been meeting more people from the virtual world in the real world, someone from my past has come back into my present over the last few weeks. It's good to have them back in my life.
3) However difficult life gets I still make sure I spend half an hour each day whatever the weather to walk outside. By the time I am ready to turn round again I can feel the stress of the day fall away and my perspective change.

‘Excited about turning 40’?
‘Yes, but I’ve been in my 40th year for a while now. I’ll be in my 41st’ year in 7 days.
‘But you’re 39 right up until the day you’re 40, until the exact time your Mum gave birth to you. When you’re 40, you’re 40, that’s what I believe. I don’t think in terms of a 41st year. They don’t at the passport office or the driving licence place do they?’
‘Where do you get your silly notions from?’
‘They are not silly notions, they are deeply held family traditions and they are true.’
‘Hmmm’.
Glad you had a good time with your virtual friends who have now become real friends! Its good when it works out like that.
ReplyDeleteI thought my forties were probably the best years but I dunno..... there is good in every age, I think!
My advice to anyone is..... be what ever age you are happy with.

Hi Maggie, I feel very fortunate to have got on so well with Dolly and Diane. Like you say it is good when it works out like that.
ReplyDeleteI think you advice is excellent by the way. :-)
How fun to meet some of the virtual world! So far I haven't had the chance....everyone is too far away. :-( Maybe one day. I'll be on the look out for photos.
ReplyDeleteFunny about the 40th thing...I've heard other people mention that before...my MIL being one of them. I dunno, to me you're only as young as you feel, at some point it really is just a number...a number I'd like to lose track of!! ;-)
Number 3 is so true. Taking some time to walk is wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteI feel that way about my runs. I do a lot of my non-thinking thinking when I run :-}
ReplyDeletetaking time to look at everything is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHi Froggy I am back in Cork now after a perfect visit home. And the icing on my birthday cake was meeting you & Froggy!! Look forward to our next meeting...maybe both of you can join me on the next section of my Thames Walk from source to Thames Barrier. I will be starting out in Oxford XX
ReplyDelete@Meeling - I hope when you get to meet some bloggers in the real world you have as good an experience as I did with Dolly and Diane. Good point on the topic of age. :-)
ReplyDelete@Perdita - I do find that. Took time out today and it really helped me after a very stressful morning.
@Nikki - If I could run I would but I am not only rubbish at it, it hurts my knees. Have to stick to walking and swimming. Great that it works for you though.
@daneastside - I certainly try to as much as I can though the business of life can really get in the way.
@Dolly - great to hear you are back safe and sound. I am also looking forward to our next meet and a walk sounds like a fine idea. If I am free when you are planning it myself and Froggy would be delighted. x
I've only done the meet up blogger thing - (philip dodd and sharon longworth) and we clicked! Glad you guys did too. It is funny to meet a'stranger' who knows an awful lot about you! Love your 100 words. So cute!
ReplyDelete@Bth, now those are two bloggers I imagine would be incredible to meet in real life. I'm not at all surprised you clicked. Very good point as well, it is really odd to meet people who know so much about you for the first time. Odd but in a good way. Thanks for liking the 100 words. It is a conversation between my other half any me.
ReplyDeleteI’ll turn a bit “older” in due time. As a matter of fact, I’ll soon reach that magical age of 39 and holding, next year. My wife, who is beautiful at any age, will hit the big 40 much sooner....like in a few months time. But like you said, it’s just a number. At my last birthday, my mother tried to depreciate me a little earlier than I wanted by, welcoming me to the next century in my life.
ReplyDeleteHi Diplo_Daddy, you sound in a similar situation to me. I'm 40 next year but hit 39 in a few months. My other half is 40 imminently.
ReplyDeleteI particularly liked your comment that your wife is beautiful at any age. That's lovely.
So many interesting events took place with you in the last little while. I'm glad that you got to meet Dolly and her friends. I hope that Happy Frog wasn't overwhelmed and tired :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Olga, so true. I've just got back from a musical festival so am hoping to catch up on blogs tomorrow. Happy Frog had much more energy the next day then me after meeting with Dolly!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with point number 3, a walk and a look at all that is there to appreciate all around us, does a world of good.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see your comments about walking each day – whatever the weather. I too, try to walk away my troubles. Even though I walk half an hour each way to work, I still like to have a little stroll out later in the evening. Mind you, so did Forrest Gump so I don’t know what that says about us!
ReplyDeleteFirst thing on my list (when my leg is healed and I am not limited) is a WALK.. I cannot wait to visit Oxford and have a walk around .
ReplyDeleteI remember my 40th birthday .. My husband and I drove from Wales (where we were living) to Devon but ended up in Cornwall, we hadn't booked anywhere and couldn't make up our minds where to stop or stay. So just kept driving. We found a lovely B and B .. had a fantastic Italian meal, a walk along the beach at night .. it was lush :-)
